Definitely Yankee!

With many folks, you can tell a lot about their background once they open their mouths. Their accent or vocabulary gives them away. This has not been the case for me, though. People who meet me for the first time usually cannot tell where I'm from. If I tell them that I grew up in Singapore, they are surprised by how how un-Singaporean my manner of speech is.
